Frequently asked questions
Everything about how Artiviant measures your AI visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity.
- What does Artiviant actually measure?
- Artiviant runs realistic buyer prompts through the major AI models and observes how often, and in what context, your business is mentioned. From those observations we calculate a visibility score, share of voice, competitor comparisons, citation patterns, and technical signals like schema and entity presence. Every metric traces back to a real, observed AI response — not a proxy or a modeled estimate. You see exactly which prompts triggered a mention, which competitors appeared instead, and which sources the models relied on to form the answer.
- Which AI providers do you cover?
- Artiviant analyzes responses from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity — the four assistants and AI-powered search experiences that buyers increasingly use to find and compare providers. Each model has its own training data, retrieval behavior, and source preferences, so your visibility can differ significantly between them. Covering all four gives you the complete picture rather than a score from one model that may not reflect how most of your buyers actually search.
- How is this different from SEO?
- SEO measures where you rank on a page of links. Artiviant measures something the AI assistant decides for the buyer: which two or three businesses actually get named in the answer. Your Google ranking and your AI visibility can be completely different — you can rank #1 on Google and still be invisible to ChatGPT, because the signals that earn an AI recommendation are different from the ones that earn a blue link. Traditional SEO tools have no visibility into this layer. Artiviant is built specifically to measure and improve it — sometimes called GEO (generative engine optimization) or AEO (answer engine optimization).
- What is GEO — generative engine optimization?
- GEO stands for generative engine optimization: the practice of making your business more likely to be named by AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity when buyers ask questions in your category. Where SEO focuses on ranking a link in a list of results, GEO focuses on being the name an AI model actually mentions in a generated answer. GEO involves structured data, entity establishment, authoritative citations, and content that answers the specific questions AI models are asked — all of which Artiviant measures and gives you a plan to improve.
- What is AEO — answer engine optimization?
- AEO stands for answer engine optimization: optimizing your content so that AI systems can extract and use it as a direct answer to a buyer's question. An answer engine doesn't serve a list of links — it synthesizes one answer. To be that answer, your content must be clear, structured, and credible enough for the model to quote. Practically, AEO means writing content with direct answers up front, using FAQPage and HowTo schema, building third-party citations, and making your entity easy for AI to recognize and trust. Artiviant's report identifies exactly which AEO gaps are limiting your visibility.
- What is the AIR™ Index?
- The AIR™ Index (AI Readiness Index) is Artiviant's composite score — a single 0–100 number that reflects how well-positioned your business is to be recommended by AI. It combines five weighted components: Recommendation Presence (how often you're named, 35%), Authority Signals (citations and trust indicators, 20%), Entity Recognition (how clearly AI understands who you are, 20%), Technical Readiness (schema, llms.txt, and crawler access, 15%), and Citation Coverage (the depth of sources supporting you, 10%). A band — Critical, Building, Strong, or Leading — translates the number into a plain-language status.
- I'm not a marketer — how much work is this for me?
- Almost none to get your report. You give us your business name, website, and city; we run the full analysis across all four AI models and hand you a finished report with a prioritized 30/60/90-day plan. You decide what to act on — or pass the plan straight to your marketing team or agency. The point is to show you the picture and the fix without adding to your schedule. Acting on the recommendations does require effort over time, but the report tells you exactly where to focus so you're not guessing.
- How does the free check work?
- The free check is the fastest way to see where you stand — no credit card required, results in about 60 seconds. Enter your website URL and we query all four AI models with buyer-style prompts for your category and market. You get your AI Visibility Score, the top competitor AI surfaces ahead of you, and a high-level view of where you're visible and where you're not. The deeper sections — full competitor breakdown, citation analysis, content gap report, and the 30/60/90-day improvement roadmap — unlock with the full $497 Audit.
- What's in the full AI Visibility Assessment?
- The full Assessment runs a structured diagnostic across eight areas: Recommendation Presence (how often and in what context AI names you), Competitor Benchmarking (share of voice vs. specific rivals), Citation Analysis (which sources the models use to support or exclude you), Content Gap Analysis (the questions buyers ask that you don't answer), Entity & Schema Review (whether AI can cleanly recognize your business), Technical Readiness (crawler access, structured data, llms.txt), Authority Signals (third-party trust indicators), and a prioritized 30/60/90-day action plan. Everything is compiled into a shareable PDF report.
- Do you guarantee better rankings, traffic, or leads?
- No. Artiviant analyzes publicly observable AI responses and publicly available information. Results reflect observations at the time of the audit and may change as AI models, sources, prompts, and ranking behaviors evolve. We do not control third-party AI systems and do not guarantee mentions, recommendations, rankings, traffic, leads, revenue, or business outcomes. We do guarantee the deliverable: if the report doesn't show you exactly where you stand and what to fix, email us within 14 days for a full refund.
- How accurate is the analysis?
- AI responses are probabilistic and can vary between runs and over time. We query multiple prompts per model and run them across all four providers to build a representative picture, but every report is a snapshot of what we observed at the time of the audit rather than a fixed or guaranteed measurement. The methodology is consistent and repeatable, which means re-running the audit after making changes gives you a meaningful comparison — even if individual responses vary.
- How long does an audit take?
- Most audits complete within a few minutes after you submit your details. You'll be able to watch progress in real time, and the full report — including the downloadable executive PDF — is available as soon as the analysis finishes. Occasional delays can occur during peak usage, but we aim for results in under five minutes in all cases.
- What do I need to get started?
- Just your business name, website URL, industry or service category, and the city or region you want to be recommended in. Optionally, you can name specific competitors you want to benchmark against — this gives the analysis a sharper competitive lens. You can start with the free check at any time with no account required, and upgrade to a full Audit from your results page.
- How often should I re-run an audit?
- We recommend re-running every 90 days as a baseline, or after any significant change: a new website, a major content push, a PR mention, or a shift in your competitor landscape. AI models update their training data and retrieval behavior regularly, so your visibility can shift without you changing anything. The 90-day cadence also aligns with the action plan in the report — you implement, then measure what moved. Credits in your dashboard never expire, so you can re-run whenever it makes sense for your cycle.
- Do you need access to our internal systems or customer data?
- No. Artiviant only reads publicly available information — your public website and the answers AI assistants give when asked about your business. We never request access to your internal systems, CRM, analytics accounts, or customer records. The entire analysis is based on what any buyer or AI model can observe from the outside, which is exactly the information that determines whether you get recommended.
- What if my score is low — what can I fix?
- A low score usually points to one or more of four root causes: AI models don't know you exist as a clear entity (entity establishment), they don't have enough trusted third-party sources confirming who you are (authority and citation gaps), your content doesn't answer the questions buyers ask AI (content gaps), or your site has technical barriers that prevent AI crawlers from reading you (schema, robots.txt, llms.txt). Your report identifies which root causes apply and prioritizes the fixes by impact — so you know exactly where to start rather than trying to fix everything at once.
- Can a new or small business rank well in AI?
- Yes — and new businesses sometimes have an advantage because they can build the right signals from the start rather than fixing legacy ones. AI visibility is not directly correlated with company size or domain authority. What matters most is entity clarity (AI understands who you are and what you do), content that directly answers buyer questions, and at least a handful of credible third-party references. A well-structured small business with a clear niche can outperform a large competitor that's invisible to AI crawlers.
- How does Artiviant differ from tools like Ahrefs or Semrush?
- Ahrefs and Semrush measure traditional search signals: keyword rankings, backlink profiles, and on-page SEO factors. They cannot see what ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Perplexity say when a buyer asks for a recommendation — because those answers are generated, not indexed. Artiviant is built specifically for the generative AI layer. It measures recommendation frequency, share of voice across AI models, citation sources, and entity recognition — signals that don't exist in any traditional SEO tool. The two are complementary: Artiviant covers the gap your SEO tools can't see.
- Do you work with agencies?
- Yes. Agencies and marketers who serve clients in any vertical can run an audit per client and deliver AI visibility analysis as a service. Each report credit covers one full assessment, and credits can be purchased in packs from your dashboard. If you're managing a portfolio of clients and need white-label reports, bulk credits, or API access, email us at support@artiviant.ai with details about your agency and client roster.
- Is my data kept private?
- Yes. We only analyze publicly available information — your website and observed AI responses. We don't sell or share your business data, audit results, or account information with third parties. Your report is private to your account. For full details on what we collect, how we store it, and your rights, see our Privacy Policy. For data requests or deletion inquiries, contact privacy@artiviant.ai.
